About Tablao Flamenco El Cordobés
Tablao Flamenco Cordobés is located on Barcelona's Rambla, the most famous avenue in Barcelona. This avenue is well-known in the world and has been and continues being the street of artists, theaters and "coffee singer bar", before the current “tablaos".
This “tablao” was founded in 1970 by D. Luis Adame, a renowned Flamenco artist who has among his friends some of the most important figures in the history of Flamenco. Some of them (Camarón, Farruco, Fernanda and Bernarda, among others) inaugurated the scene of the “Tablao”. Others like Enrique Morente or Cristina Hoyos visit this tablao when travel to Barcelona. Farruquito considered it a very special place because many members of his family have worked here, including his grandfather El Farruco. For these and other reasons the Tablao Flamenco Cordobés has became in the place of worship Flamenco in Barcelona.
The Cordobés show discovers the great variety of music, singing and dancing that combines Flamenco. It does it from improvisation, a key element in a Flamenco show; each artist interprets Flamenco from their emotion and transmits to the viewer. It produces a musical communication, which makes this art so special.
Performances are usually composed by 14 artists troupe, among them highlight Antonio "El Farru" and Belén López, important figures of the current Flamenco panorama, experimented artists and young promises. Its staging looks for the deepest essence of Flamenco, from the maximum intensity and emotion. Besides, it uses an artistic language based on the theatrical aesthetics of the locale, the diversity and choral of the shows.
The design of the building splits into the area of restaurant that has a great buffet; and the stage which reminds us the traditional aesthetics of a “tablao”. It has a close box that allows the intimacy between artists and the public, a beautiful decoration according to the artistic proposal, and in a unique environment.
On the 30th anniversary of the “tablao”, the Adame family changed structure and redecorated to define the style of their “tablao”. This tablao is a little jewel of Nasrid art in the centre of Barcelona. The Nasrid art has its maximum expression in the Alhambra of Granada. The reform was managed under the direction of recognized restorers and artisans of the Alhambra conservation team, the locale is a true exponent of Andalusian art.
“Tablao” Flamenco of Barcelona’s cuisine, an abundant and careful traditional gastronomy, has an absolute recognition among its visitors. Under the supervision of a highly qualified staff, they offer native products of the highest quality.
Under the passionate direction of this family of artists, its usual programme has artists of great recognition in the current Flamenco panorama: Belén López, Karime Amaya, Pastora Galván, José Maya, Barullo, María Carmona, Moreno de Illora, Juan Manzano "El Coco ", Manuel Tañé, Antonio Villar, Jonathan Giménez, David and Israel Cerreduela, among others.
