About Miguel Poveda
MIGUEL ÁNGEL POVEDA LEÓN, "cantaor" (Flamenco singer). Born in 1973 in Barcelona. Better known in the art environment by Miguel Poveda, he began singing at the age of 15 in the setting of the flamenco clubs "Peñas Flamencas" of Catalonia.
In 1993, at the age of 20 he began his career as a professional, after winning several awards such as the "Lámpara Minera" Prize and three more prizes in the modalities of "La Soleá", "La Cartagenera" and "La Malagueña" at the then National Festival of "Cante de las Minas de La Unión" , In Murcia.
He has participated in major national and international music festivals, singing in auditoriums such as the Odeon in Paris, the Barcelona Lyceum, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York, the Wiener Koncerthaus in Vienna, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Sadler's Wells in London, Maestranza in Seville.
He has collaborated with great artists such as Enrique Morente, Carmen Linares, Paco de Lucía, Manolo Sanlúcar, Joan Manuel Serrat, Santiago Auserón, Israel Galván, Eva Yerbabuena, Manuela Carrasco, Raphael, Tomatito, Antonio Carmona, Pasión Vega, Chavela Vargas, Manuel Carrasco , María Dolores Pradera, Alejandro Sanz and many other musicians and performers.
His discography, until today, is made up of 11 discs in addition to "arteSano", which has won the Gold Album only a week after its release, in addition to the previous album "Coplas del querer" which was awarded several Music Awards And obtained the Gold and Platinum Disc.
Throughout his career he has been awarded such important prizes as the National Music Award in 2007, the 2011 National Culture Prize of Catalonia, the Jerez Flamenco Award Chair, the Solidarity Medal for his concert at Benefit of the Andex Foundation and the Andalusian Medal 2012
