Soon he began with his first public performances, always with the guitar of Fernando Rodríguez, his teacher and guide.

In 1996, he won the first prize of Saetas Ladrillo Saetero organized by Peña Torres Macarena de Sevilla, winning again in the next two years and a special prize to the best Saeta for Seguiriyas. In 1999 he toured several Peñas Flamencas de Andalucía giving recitals. In this new millennium he participated in Flamenco Festivals throughout Andalusia, inaugurated Peñas Flamencas such as those of Fosforito in Puente Genil (Cordoba) and Juan Talegas de Dos Hermanas (Seville), as well as participating in the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, in its section Sabor a Peñas.

Already in 2001 his career towards the top continued unstoppable, he was classified as the best Flamenco singer in the province of Seville, in the Competition organized by the Federation of Andalusian Rock, and subsequently placed third in the grand final held in Cordoba, which brought together the best singers of the eight Andalusian provinces.

He travelled all over Spain performing in Peñas and Flamenco Festivals and won more than twenty first prizes in competitions of national renown. But his great year arrives in 2003, when he obtains the prestigious "LÁMPARA MINERA" in the International contest of cante de las Minas en la Unión (maximum prize that is given in the contest) and later with the first prize for soleá and Seguiriyas in the contest of Mairena del Alcor. Thanks to these awards, he recorded a CD with the generic title "A Tomillo y Romero", where critics said he demonstrated his artistic quality and confirmed that he was a great flamenco professional.
