About La Cañeta
MARIA TERESA SÁNCHEZ CAMPOS, known artistically as La Cañeta de Málaga, cantaora. She was born in Málaga in the year 1932.
She grew up listening to sing all day, She is the daughter of the famous Málaga singer and perchelera "La Pirula", creator of many of the styles by tangos that later popularized the Repompa. As a child, she already worked in the party hall "El Pimpi". He moved to Madrid in 1960 to work in the tablao El Duende, being his great debut, from where he passed to Villa Rosa. From very young maintained a close relation with Madrid, debuting in the disappeared Circus Price.She belonged to the tablao cast, along with Pastora Imperio and Gitanillo de Triana, and stayed there for four years. Then began their tours abroad.She traveled to Mexico to work in El Rincón de Goya and returned to the Duende of Madrid, to Corral de la Morería, to Venta del Gato, and later continued his touring trips to Japan, America and Europe, never leaving his land behind : Málaga.
Married to the singer José Salazar Salazar, with whom she also shares an artistic relationship. Her torn voice, inimitable performance, her great talent for tangos and bulerías make La Cañeta one of the most important Flamenco singer of Málaga in the current Flamenco scene.
Teresa, makes a recording in Puro and Jondo of T.V.E, next to Curro Malena. In addition, she has recorded four albums, accompanied by Paco Aguilera, Pepe Habichuela, Duque, Manuel Santiago and Pedro Escalona,
She has shared stage with, among others, Manolo Caracol and Lola Flores, with Beni de Cádiz, Carmen Amaya, Antonio Gades, La Paquera de Jérez, and a long etcetera of first figures. In 2000, she was named "Cantaora of the Year" by Mesón El Chinitas de Málaga and this year 2005 has been awarded the Medal of Honor of the Ateneo de Málaga. Málaga in Flamenco, paid tribute to him in the show "Málaga", the day of the inauguration of the first biennale of Malaga.She was also part of the cast of 'De Tablao' by Antonio el Pipa and participated in the closing of the festival in the show 'Dos Generaciones' next to Chano Lobato, Carrete, La Tremendita or Rocío Molina. In 2006 he has also participated in the cycle 'Los Jueves de la Crítica' and 'Nos vemos en tu Peña' of the same festival in Málaga.
